The Role
Reporting to the GM of Finance, the Senior Accountant will be a key technical and commercial resource within the finance team. You will own core financial reporting and compliance deliverables while playing a hands-on role in standing up the policies, procedures and systems required as the business moves into operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Month-end processing, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Timely preparation and analysis of monthly management reports
- Preparation of weekly cashflows
- Drafting interim and annual financial statements under AIFRS, and managing the external audit program
- Ensuring GST (BAS) and FBT compliance, and assisting with income tax returns
- Developing operational and capital expenditure budgets and forecasts
- Assisting with financial modelling and KPI reporting
- Streamlining and improving financial systems, including development of policies and procedures
- Partnering with department leaders to enhance commercial performance and accountability
- Providing support and guidance to Accounts Payable and Payroll
You are a technically strong, commercially curious accountant who is excited, not intimidated, by ambiguity. You see a rapidly expanding business with evolving structures as an opportunity to add value, not a problem to be managed.
To succeed in this role you will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification
- 3+ years post-qualification experience in a similar role
- Mining operational experience (desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of AIFRS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Pronto highly regarded
- Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and partner across all levels of the business
- A values-led approach, with a genuine commitment to safety, integrity and doing things properly
