Hunter Manning has been exclusively retained by Byrnecut Australia to identify their next General Manager - Technology.
Byrnecut Australia is one of the most respected names in underground mining contracting, with a 35-year track record of delivering complex projects across Australia and internationally. The business is privately owned, operationally excellent, and growing.
This is a newly structured leadership role - and a genuine opportunity to shape how technology enables the next phase of that growth.
The Role
Reporting to the EGM of Finance and Shared Services and working closely with the executive team, you will lead a centralised technology function of approximately 25 staff based in Perth.
The mandate - transition the technology function from a reliable operational base to a scalable, secure, and strategically aligned capability that the business can grow with.
You will own the technology strategy and roadmap, govern the platforms and vendor ecosystem, lead the team, and establish technology as a trusted voice at the executive table. Cyber security, governance, service quality and digital enablement all sit within your remit.
What You Will Be Doing
Developing and delivering a 2-3 year technology strategy with executive and board alignment.
Uplifting IT governance, architecture, and service management maturity.
Leading cyber security strategy, controls, and compliance.
Driving automation, data, and digital capabilities that improve operational performance.
Building and developing a high performing technology leadership team.
Acting as a trusted advisor to the executive on technology risk, investment, and direction.
What We Are Looking For
You have led technology in a mining, resources, mining services, or asset-intensive operational environment.
You understand what it means to operate lean, move fast, and deliver in conditions where reliability is non-negotiable.
You have built or transformed a technology function - not just managed one.
You bring strong governance credentials, genuine cyber awareness, and the communication skills to hold a room at executive level.
You will have led in a CIO, Head of Tech, GM Tech or IT Director level mandate.
